How to Factory Reset When Suspecting Malware

Suspect malware on your phone? Factory reset is the most thorough solution, but follow the correct procedure.

Step 1: Disconnect from Network IMMEDIATELY

Enable airplane mode or turn off WiFi + 4G to prevent malware from sending data.

Step 2: Backup Important Data

Backup photos and contacts via computer (USB cable). DO NOT backup apps as they may contain malware.

Step 3: Factory Reset

Go to Settings → General Management → Reset → Factory Data Reset. This will erase all data.

Step 4: Change All Passwords

After reset, change passwords for ALL accounts: banking, email, social media. Use a different device.

Emergency

If you suspect malware has read your banking OTP/password → visit your bank branch to lock your account BEFORE resetting.
