Booking resorts through social media is convenient but risky. Here's how to protect yourself.
1. Verify the Page/Website
Check for verified badges, follower count, and activity history. Pages created less than 6 months ago with unusually low prices are red flags.
2. Use Trusted Platforms
Prefer Booking.com, Agoda, Traveloka — platforms with buyer protection. Avoid transferring money directly to individuals.
3. Call to Confirm
Find the resort's official phone number on Google Maps or their website. Call directly to verify the booking.
4. Never Pay 100% Upfront
Deposit maximum 30%. If asked to pay 100% before arrival → likely a scam.
